Rivers Casino to Add Hotel

Last week Rivers Casino Pittsburgh have met the City Planning Commission to present the outline of the planned construction of a luxurious four-star hotel on the North Shore, overlooking the Ohio river. The new $51.5 million seven-storey casino would be built on the green space between the casino and the Carnegie Science Centre.

The Rivers Casino is located in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania along the Ohio River and it was opened in 2009. Even at that time their plan involved construction of a hotel, but this plan came to see the first steps of its realization last week. Casino executives appeared on a regular bi-weekly meeting of the Pittsburgh Planning Commission and presented their plan for the construction of the new four-star hotel on the space adjacent to the existing casino.

The hotel is planned to house seven storeys and over 200 rooms with the restaurant, lobby bar and fitness center as special amenities for the guests of the hotel and the casino. Furthermore, the addition of a spa center is in plan, only the spa will be added to casino facilities. The architecture envisages a style that would blend in the existing neighbourhood, with the solutions that would allow maximum enjoyment of the magnificent riverside view. It is estimated that the whole project will cost around $51.5 million. With the new hotel the casino will offer more comfort to the local guests while it will also be a big boost for tourism of the area because now tourists can stay at the luxurious hotel and have their fun at the casino.

On top of that, the construction of such a large casino would mean a lot for the community as well for various reasons. First of all, it will create over a thousand new work places during the construction and after it. When the hotel starts working it means that there will be permanent new jobs available. Secondly, the Rivers Casino brings a lot through tax. It is estimated that Rivers Casino Hotel will add around $10 million to the annual tax revenue.

The City is yet to approve the construction of this new Hotel, but should they decide to allow the construction of Rivers Casino Hotel it will probably start as soon as this spring and it is planned to be finished in around 12 months time.
